- Gustavus Veterinary Services is a privately owned, two doctor, mixed animal veterinary practice serving Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania.
- We provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for companion animals and livestock through both in-clinic and ambulatory services.
Position Summary
As the first point of contact, you will play a vital role in creating a positive experience for every client and patient. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls and schedule appointments, including small and large animal appointments.
- Welcome clients and patients with professionalism and kindness.
- Check patients in and out for appointments.
- Process payments and assist to balance daily transactions.
- Maintain accurate client and patient records and communications.
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians and other support staff.
- Respond to client questions and relay messages appropriately.
- Assist with prescription refill requests and appointment reminders.
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and inviting.
- Perform other administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Previous veterinary receptionist, veterinary assistant, or veterinary clinic experience.
- Experience in a medical office or customer service role.
- Familiarity with small and large animal veterinary practices and terminology.
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software. We use Daysmart/Vetter.
Required:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong computer and typing skills.
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Schedule
- Tuesday through Friday, one - two Saturdays per month.
- 8am - 5pm (weekdays), 8am - 12pm (Saturdays)
