Electrical Controls Engineer

Summary
The Electrical Controls Engineer plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations through the design, development, and support of electrical and automation systems. This role offers the opportunity to lead Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programming, controls integration, and equipment improvements across production, R&D, and laboratory environments while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, install, and troubleshoot electrical, controls, and automation systems for manufacturing and laboratory equipment.
• Develop and maintain PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs using Allen‑Bradley and/or AutomationDirect platforms.
• Integrate machines, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), drives, servos, and motion control systems to support reliable operations.
• Install, configure, and maintain process instrumentation and electrical control panels.
• Support equipment startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with production and maintenance teams to diagnose issues and improve equipment uptime.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and oversight for internal teams and external contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies.
Qualifications
• Associate degree in Electro Mechanical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, or equivalent education and experience required.
• Minimum of three years hands-on experience with PLC programming, electrical controls, and industrial automation in a manufacturing environment required.
Work Environment
• Primarily office‑based with regular work in manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse environments.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, fumes, chemicals, and temperature variations.
• Must be able to move throughout the facility, stand or bend during troubleshooting, use ladders, and lift up to 35 pounds independently.
• Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all OSHA and facility safety standards.
