Promotions and Events Specialist

Position Summary:

Assist in the coordination of the casino in all advertising and marketing efforts while performing responsibilities in accordance with Company standards, policies, and procedures. Responsible for providing support and assistance in various avenues of the marketing department including, but not limited to, advertising, social media, promotions, and special events.

In this Role:

• Plan, organize, coordinate, promote, facilitate, and supervise property special events (both on and off property), entertainment, and promotional drawings.
• Assist in the creation/proofing of promotional rules and promotional advertising material through various channels including social media.
• Assist with evaluation of special events, and/or promotional drawings.
• Responsible for managing the flow of communication for promotional and entertainment efforts with the casino team.
• Responsible for having a granular understanding of competitors' marketing programs and efforts through research.
• Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members, and create an energized, positive, teamoriented work environment.
• Interact with Guests in a friendly and courteous manner and handle all Guest opportunities.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally with Guests, Team Members, and Management.
• Maintain excellent grooming and uniform standards.
• All other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions:

Work is typically in an office environment or out on the casino floor. Work areas may be warm, cold, or noisy and may contain second-hand smoke. Tasks may be required to be performed from a sitting or non-sitting position in a confined area. Team Members may be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, and grasp.

Essential Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Associate degree or equivalent education required. Will consider candidates with two (2) or more years’ experience with a promotional, special events, advertising, hospitality, or sales background.
• Work experience in the gaming or hospitality industry is preferred.
• Flexibility to work any shift to assist the Team.
• Strong background with proper grammar and proofreading.
• Able to logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work.
• Ability to make progress and/or handle multiple assignments under time constraints.
• Ability to deal with interpersonal situations that may be difficult to resolve when working with upset/irate Guests.
• Comfortable with public speaking under spotlights with big crowds.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, Management, and Media, both in written and verbal form, with or without a microphone.
• Strong understanding of computers and the ability to learn new software programs in a timely fashion.
• Must be able to obtain a gaming license with the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
• Must have the manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, run, and climb stairs for the duration of shift.
• Must have the ability to access all properties and areas.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
• Ability to read, write, and input data into the computer.
• Ability to stoop, crouch and kneel.
