Position Overview
Gulliver Prep Upper School faculty are passionate, student-centered educators committed to delivering dynamic, engaging, and rigorous academic experiences. Faculty actively contribute to a culture of data-informed improvement, academic excellence, and community belonging. They are collaborative professionals who strive to foster deep learning, critical thinking, and the holistic development of all students in alignment with Gulliver’s mission and educational philosophy.
The Upper School Digital Mass Media department is seeking individuals who may be responsible for such courses including multimedia production, graphic design, film production, journalism, podcasting, and television broadcasting.
Job Responsibilities
The Upper School Faculty key responsibilities are as follows:
Academic Instruction & Curriculum Implementation:
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with department standards and school-wide curriculum goals.
- Design lessons that engage all learners, incorporate best practices, and promote deeper understanding of course content.
- Utilize technology and innovative tools to enhance student learning and creativity.
- Contribute to curriculum development and revision in collaboration with department colleagues and the Department Chair.
Student Learning & Well-being:
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly using multiple data sources; provide timely, actionable feedback.
- Use data and assessment to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including academic support and enrichment.
- Is an advisor to students in the Character Education program.
- Promote student social-emotional growth and help create a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
- Partner with colleagues, counselors, and families to support student success and well-being.
Professional Growth & Collaboration:
- Participate actively in department meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives.
- Reflect on teaching practice and seek continuous growth through an openness to classroom observations, critical feedback from Department Chairs, and peer collaboration.
- Complete required training and certifications, including professional learning opportunities such as the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) courses if applicable.
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
Community & School Engagement:
- Serve as a visible and active member of the school community, including attending events, chaperone events, advising clubs, and supporting student activities, both during and after school hours where needed.
- Maintain clear, respectful communication with students, families, and colleagues.
- Contribute to the school’s culture of belonging and inclusion through curriculum, relationships, and co-curricular engagement.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid teaching certification or equivalent preferred. Minimum 2-3 years of successful teaching experience at the high school level.
- Strong instructional, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote a positive and collaborative professional culture.
- Passion for education, student development, and professional learning.
