Position Overview
Gulliver Prep Primary & Lower School Faculty Assistants are nurturing, student-centered educators dedicated to cultivating joyful, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate learning environments for young learners. They are committed to academic excellence, character development, and the social-emotional well-being of each student. Job Responsibilities
The Primary & Lower School Faculty Assistant key responsibilities are as follows:
Academic Instruction & Curriculum Implementation:
- In collaboration with the lead teacher, create lessons that are active, engaging, and tailored to a variety of learning styles and developmental levels.
- Utilize a range of resources and technology tools to support differentiated learning and student exploration.
Student Learning & Well-being:
- Along with the lead teacher, monitor and assess individual student progress using both formative and summative measures; provide ongoing, developmentally appropriate feedback.
- When needed, provide targeted support and enrichment based on data-informed student needs.
- Foster a warm, inclusive classroom culture that promotes confidence, kindness, curiosity, and a sense of belonging.
- Partner closely with families, learning specialists, and counselors to support holistic student growth.
Professional Growth & Collaboration:
- Engage in team meetings and school-wide professional development focused on continuous improvement.
- Reflect on and refine instructional practices in response to student data, and feedback/coaching from GLC’s.
- Participate in required training and growth opportunities, including the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) professional learning sequence when applicable.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units, thematic learning, and shared student experiences.
Community & School Engagement:
- Serve as a visible, positive presence in the daily life of the Primary & Lower School community, including during assemblies, special events, and enrichment opportunities both during and after school hours where needed, such as admissions testing support.
- At the discretion of lead teacher or GLC, communicate regularly with families to support student learning and strengthen home-school partnerships.
- Contribute to a culture of belonging and inclusion by creating classroom environments that honor diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and identities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate’s degree in the subject area or a related field (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
- Minimum 2-3 years of successful experience, ideally at the primary-aged and/or elementary school level.
- Deep understanding of early childhood development and best practices in foundational literacy and numeracy instruction.
- Strong instructional, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote a positive and collaborative professional culture.
- Passion for education, student development, and professional learning.
- Commitment to Gulliver Prep’s mission, values, and continuous improvement.
