Under general supervision, secures and cares for inmate sentenced to jail by the municipal court; book in and conduct bond
hears for new arrests.
Performs leadership tasks to supervise inmates and maintain a safe, orderly, and sanitary
environment; conducts regular and professional visitations; assists in keeping the cell blocks clean;
distributes and retrieves linens; prepares meals for inmates; delivers and retrieves mail for inmates;
distributes medication as needed.

Performs tasks to book and process inmates arriving at the facility; searches inmates upon arrival to
the facility; completes inmate profile documentation.

Works to keep a peaceful and community oriented atmosphere among inmates; provides intervention
during inmate disputes; resolves physical conflicts.

Monitors activities to prevent escape of inmates.

Performs administrative tasks for the facility; maintains inmate records and related documentation;
updates and maintains related financial records; delivers court papers involving detainees; obtains
fingerprints; prepares incident reports; completes arrest reports; prepares meal, medication and
property documentation; maintains inventory of facility supplies; researches the NCIC for warrant
information.


Education and Experience:
High School Education or Equivalent; and,
No experience; or,
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:
Necessary- Jail Management Certification, Drager Alcotest Certification, Taser Certification
Desirable- ACJIC & NCIC CertificationsIMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:

Act as Court Bailiff and Bond Hearing Staff

Transports inmates to various locations; escorts inmates to and from court.

Supervise facility cleaning through detainee labor.

Assists with dispatching activities as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

Judicial system, operation and procedures for criminal prosecution.

Recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.

All computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job.

First Aid procedures and equipment.

Suspect/victim/witness interview and interrogation concepts, principles and practices.

Departmental policies and standard operating procedures.

Defensive tactics to protect self and others.

All computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job.

Department organization, standard operating guidelines and policies, rules, and regulations.

Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.

Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.

Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with a minimum of
direction.

Training other employees.

Using mathematics.

Applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated
policies, procedures and protocols.

The use and operation of all assigned equipment to include; fire arms, restraint devices, technical and/or specialized
equipment and basic first aid equipment.

persons away from dangerous situations or respond to incidents.

Ability to run up or down stairways or respond to other incidents.

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle,
or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, speak and hear, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move more than 100
pounds.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to unknown and dangerous conditions such as intoxicated or violent arrestees and life threatening situation such
as armed and/or violent arrestees.
