Position Overview
Gulf Highway Equipment is seeking an experienced and dependable Hydraulic Mechanic to join our growing team. This role focuses on the installation, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of hydraulic systems on commercial trucks, specialty vehicles, and equipment builds. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically strong, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and fittings
- Install hydraulic components on new truck builds and upfits
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical issues related to equipment operation
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical manuals
- Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and company standards
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding job status and issues
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience working with hydraulic systems (truck or heavy equipment preferred)
- Strong understanding of hydraulic principles and troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to read hydraulic diagrams and blueprints
- Experience with commercial trucks, vocational equipment, or fleet vehicles is a plus
- Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
