What are the responsibilities and job description for the Short Term Respite Mentor position at Gulf Coast Social Services?
Our agency is seeking Youth Respite Staff to provide brief respite for youth with emotional or behavioral disorders in the community (parks, libraries, recreational outings) or in the youth’s home. The Short Term Respite program is designed to give the primary caregivers of youth with emotional, mental or behavioral disorders brief periods of respite (3 – 4 hours) in order for the caregiver to relax, rejuvenate, or attend to personal needs. Services are typically delivered outside of school hours and on weekends. All Youth Respite Staff receive paid training, including CPR/First Aid.
The position requires a High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma in the area of human services, or verifiable work experience in providing support to children/youth with mental or behavioral health disorders. The ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift to work with children or adolescents.
Applicant must pass a drug screen, TB test, Criminal Record Background Check, and LA Motor Vehicle Record Check, must have a valid driver’s license consistent with Louisiana law, current auto liability insurance, and have access to a reliable vehicle in a safe operating condition with current inspection stickers.
