The Lafayette Region is seeking a Billing Specialist who will be responsible for supervising and ensuring the timely billing of all assigned programs. The incumbent will work closely with Central Office personnel to ensure that the billing is accurately completed and any billing discrepancies are resolved, communicate with the Director of Waiver Services, other Program Directors, and Coordinators to ensure that consumer hours requested are pre-authorized and in line with each individual’s plan of care, coordinate & supervise the time records/progress notes process for direct care staff (DSWs) and Short Term Mentors (STR), ensure that time recording processing deadlines are met and time records are sent to the appropriate departments at Central Office, communicate with the Regional Director and Director of Waiver Services in accordance with established Agency policies and procedures, as well as state licensure requirements.
This position will also contribute to the efficient and orderly operation of the Lafayette Regional Office by assisting in performing general office duties that include but not limited to; assisting the Regional director, answering telephones, entering/verifying billing service data, maintaining medical client files, tracking required program documentation, maintaining client records, electronic filing, payroll data reports, maintaining multiple electronic database systems, and other clerical duties as assigned.
The position requires a High School Diploma and some post-secondary accounting training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and a minimum of one-year medical billing or clerical/accounting experience. Good administrative background including ability to use all office equipment. Basic understanding of general bookkeeping principles. Good computer skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Good verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to represent the Agency in a professional and courteous manner, and to accept feedback and direction well from supervisor. Demonstrated ability in handling multiple responsibilities with accuracy, requiring continual attention to detail, versatility, diligence, dependability, creativity, an eagerness to improve existing systems, and the ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Valid Louisiana driver’s license, current inspection sticker, liability insurance, and registration and pass a background and vehicle motor check are required. Experience with MS Office, including Word, and Excel is also desired.
