Reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager this role performs preventive maintenance and repairs to Blood Center vehicles, specifically diesel and gas engines. This role will support the maintenance and repairs of local and regional vehicles and will require day travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands , handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb and/or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employees are required to be familiar with and abide by the team lift requirements as specified in the Safety Program in an effort to prevent bodily injury and for the health and safety of others. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; blood and/or blood components, as well as any other bio-hazard material; and vibration. Position requires frequent driving or moving of the fleet. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

- Perform Preventive maintenance on Diesel and Gas vehicles 40%
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel- & gas-powered engines, chassis & body: vehicles include heavy trucks, buses, gas vehicles and generators. 50%
- Maintaining detailed service records, documenting repairs & providing support on any ongoing fleet related projects 10%
- High school Diploma or GED
- Minimum two years previous job-related diesel and medium and heavy-duty truck repairs experience required or preferred.
- Technician with five years or more of experience or any specialized diagnostic will also be considered.
- Valid Texas Driver's License (CDL); if not one must be obtained within 60 days of employment, plus an acceptable driving record.
- Completion of an automotive technical program or automotive maintenance program is preferred.
- ASE certifications
- Medium & Heavy-duty mechanic experience preferred
