The Aerospace Quality Engineer ensures that aerospace products and processes meet all required quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role supports the design, production, and testing of components and systems to ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA, and customer-specific requirements. The position involves collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure the highest levels of product integrity and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
- Perform internal and supplier audits, inspections, and quality reviews to ensure compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards.
- Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for nonconformances.
- Support First Article Inspections (FAI) and documentation per AS9102 requirements.
- Monitor and analyze quality metrics to identify trends and areas for process improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues in design, manufacturing, and testing phases.
- Lead supplier quality management activities, including qualification, audits, and performance monitoring.
- Review and approve manufacturing documentation, inspection plans, and test procedures for quality compliance.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, DoD, or NASA standards (as applicable).
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce defects and improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3–7 years of experience in quality engineering within the aerospace or defense industry.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001, and NADCAP requirements.
- Experience with root cause analysis tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone), FMEA, and control plans.
- Proficiency with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).
- Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and inspection techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
- AS9100 Internal Auditor Certification
- NADCAP Special Process Auditor (advantageous)
