Guerdon is the premier manufacturer of wood-framed, multi-family, industrial workforce housing, and light commercial modular buildings. Proudly made in the USA at our facility in Boise, Idaho, we serve clients across the Western United States and Canada, primarily in the hospitality and housing industries. With a strong focus on multi-family and multi-story apartments and hotels, our projects are custom-built to meet local codes, client specifications, and architectural design requirements.

The Drywall Technician plays a key role in the final finishing stages of modular unit construction. This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing drywall surfaces to meet company quality standards. The technician ensures that drywall seams, joints, and surfaces are properly prepared, finished, and ready for final inspection while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and finish drywall surfaces within modular units during the final stages of construction.
  • Apply joint compound to seams, joints, nail holes, and cracks between drywall panels to create smooth surfaces.
  • Sand and prepare drywall surfaces to meet finishing and quality standards.
  • Inspect completed work and perform repairs or touch-ups as needed.
  • Assist the finishing team in ensuring modular units meet established quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Inspect tools, equipment, and materials for safety hazards prior to use.
  • Remove debris, scrap materials, and construction waste from the work area.
  • Collaborate with other craft and trade workers to support project completion.
  • Work within established project schedules and deadlines to support production goals.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 (Two) years of experience in a manufacturing or construction industry
  • 1–2 years of drywall installation, finishing, or interior construction experience preferred.
  • Experienced at reading a tape measure and familiar with blueprints desired
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as tape measures, hammers, screwdrivers, and utility knives.
  • Experience using pneumatic tools and equipment such as nail guns, screw guns, and sprayers.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
  • Follow and uphold all safety standards and adherence to PPE requirements.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing tasks.
  • Ability to work on-site during regular business hours of 6am-2:30pm M-F and Saturdays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit; talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, and kneel.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and handling materials.
  • Frequent lifting from 5-50 lbs.
  • Access and mobility in tight spaces.
  • Working at heights - over 5 feet.
  • Moderately to loud noise level.
