Summary of Position
Guardian Christian Academy is a dually accredited (ACSI, Cognia) school seeking educational professionals with a heart for Jesus and developing students through Christ centered education. Teachers must implement instructional strategies in line with the guidelines established by the GCA student and faculty handbooks. Instruction must be taught from a Biblical perspective using the approved curriculum provided by GCA.

- Model unity in the Body of Christ while allowing denominational distinctives to remain personal
- Exhibit spiritual maturity, strong character, and leadership consistent with the call to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6)
- Recognize parents as the primary educators of their children and serve as a supportive partner in their God-given role

Essential Job Functions
- Uphold and reflect the mission of the school by honoring Christ in all instruction and activities
- Encourage students toward spiritual growth and guide them to understand their identity and worth in Christ
- Practice biblical conflict resolution, following the Matthew 18 principle – if a conflict arises it is to be brought to the attention of the individual directly involved. If unresolved, the issue follows the chain of conflict resolution as detailed in the GCA faculty handbook. All conflict resolutions begin between the parties involved.
- Teach assigned subjects using prescribed curriculum and scope and sequence with strong biblical integration
- Differentiate instruction and utilize varied learning modalities to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of individual students in a way that challenges them to do their best work
- Maintain a classroom environment that is clean, orderly, welcoming, and conducive to learning
- Demonstrate effective classroom management that promotes respect, responsibility, and academic excellence
- Prepare and maintain lesson plans, assessments, records, and reports professionally and accurately in accordance with GCA expectations
- Communicate regularly with parents and administration regarding academic progress concerns
- Assess students learning on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of effective public relations by representing the school in a professional, positive manner to all constituents and the broader community
- Build and maintain strong rapport with students, parents, and staff by consistently showing friendliness, dignity, respect, and consideration in all interactions
- Incorporate technology, hands-on learning, field trips, guest speakers, and additional resources to enrich instruction
- Provide meaningful homework that reinforces classroom learning
- Collaborate with colleagues and demonstrate a teachable, humble attitude
- Participate in devotions, faculty meetings, professional development, evaluation process, and schoolwide events
- Inform proper channels in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any assigned duties
- Prepare materials for substitute teachers when needed
- Understand and follow emergency and safety procedures
- Perform additional duties assigned by administration in support of the school’s mission
Professional Requirements
- Teachers are required to be born-again believers and degreed educators. Candidates must hold, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in teaching or relevant field and/or hold a valid Virginia State Teaching License or ACSI Certification.
