TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The candidate chosen to fill this position shall provide instruction that helps students learn subject matter and skill which will contribute to both academic achievement and development of appropriate social skills. The candidate is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating instruction based upon specific goals and objectives established by the division and the Virginia Standards of Learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with endorsement(s) in the required content area and/or grade level.
- At least three (3) years’ prior, successful teaching experience in the desired content area and/or grade level is preferred.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, DUTIES AND ABILITIES
- Able to blend online and non-computer activities to teach students computational thinking, problem-solving, programming concepts, and digital citizenship.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with implementation of project-based learning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with implementation of cross-curricular units of study.
- Able to co-plan and co-teach interdisciplinary lessons in core classes.
- Experience in creating and providing school and/or division professional development.
- Foundational understanding of computing and the use of technology.
- Understanding/knowledge of computer science terminology.
- Creates lesson plans that are appropriate for the age and abilities of the students.
- Evaluates student performances and provides feedback.
- Assigns special projects to students.
- Identifies varying teaching methods that work best for students with particular learning styles or educational needs.
- Develops and updates curriculum for the classroom.
- Designs lessons that encourage student engagement and creativity.
- Remains up-to-date on changes and advancements in computer technology utilized in classrooms.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills.
- Other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional, school environment. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach, and sit for extended periods of time.
