This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment. The SPT I ensures proper specimen routing, processing, and documentation while maintaining compliance with laboratory policies, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.Key Responsibilities:Perform general specimen-processing tasks including A-station, presort, centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging, microfilming, and specimen delivery.Accurately enter and verify data, meeting the requirement of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.Ensure specimens are processed with confidence, accuracy, and timeliness.Maintain understanding of specimen types and related test requirements.Learn and adapt to changing compliance regulations related to test ordering.Meet productivity and quality standards in a high-volume production environment.Follow all biohazard handling and laboratory safety procedures.Communicate effectively with staff across all levels.Maintain a neat, clean, and organized workstation.Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and adaptability to daily operational changes.Support evening, weekend, holiday, on-call, and overtime shifts as required based on staffing needs.Required Experience:No previous experience required.Data entry skills required.Nice-to-Have Experience:Prior laboratory or specimen-processing experience.Medical background with knowledge of medical terminology.Experience in hospital or production environments.Required Skills:Strong data entry capabilitiesAbility to work in a fast-paced production environmentUnderstanding of basic computer functionsPreferred Skills:Familiarity with laboratory operations or specimen handlingAdaptability to changing compliance requirementsStrong communication and teamwork skillsAdditional Skills:Excellent organizational skillsAbility to sit or stand for long periodsPositive interpersonal communicationCommitment to core values, safety, and complianceRequired Education:High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).Work Environment & Schedule:Production laboratory environmentBiohazard exposure; safety PPE requiredStandard hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PMSaturday shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PMOnsite only; not eligible for remote workNo hospital credentialing requiredCOVID vaccine not requiredTemp Justification: Maternity leave coverageBenefits:Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement FundAbout the Client:A leading provider of diagnostic information services, helping empower healthier lives through the world’s largest clinical lab database.
