This role leads the design and development of technical training, contributes to workforce development initiatives, ensures alignment with operational standards, and supports the strategic goals of the *** Academy. The SID works closely with Instructional Designers, Strategists, SMEs, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality training solutions that meet the needs of skilled trade apprenticeships.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct needs assessments and front-end analyses (FEA) to identify training requirements and recommend effective learning solutions for apprenticeship programs.Collaborate with Senior Learning Strategists and Instructional Designers to determine learning strategies, create curriculum maps, and define assessment methods.Review off-the-shelf courses with SMEs for inclusion in technician curriculum pathways.Guide the appropriate use of learning technologies and tools; recommend solutions to stakeholders.Ensure deliverables meet quality standards; perform QA reviews.Estimate project costs and create schedules in partnership with the strategy and instructional design teams.Manage project execution, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget.Facilitate key project meetings, including Kick-offs, Betas, Train-the-Trainers, and Pilots.Track project milestones and provide ongoing updates to stakeholders.Identify opportunities for improvement; gather and analyze metrics to inform continuous improvement strategies.Archive course materials and perform project close-out activities.Required ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).At least 5 years of instructional design experience, including 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role.Experience designing multi-year technical training programs.Strong understanding of instructional design for classroom and technical/trades environments.Proven ability to manage small to mid-sized projects.Excellent communication skills with experience collaborating across diverse teams.Proficiency in MS Office, Articulate Storyline, LMS tools, video production, and web design platforms.Nice-to-Have ExperienceExperience developing skilled-trades apprenticeship programs.Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field.Experience within the utility industry, trades, or similar environment.Familiarity with Questionmark, Author-It, MS Teams, and virtual learning platforms.Experience leveraging AI tools for workflow efficiency.Required SkillsInstructional design expertiseExcellent analysis skillsStrategic thinking and project management skillsStrong stakeholder engagementPreferred SkillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong communication and facilitation abilitiesAttention to detail with a commitment to qualityAbility to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environmentAdditional Skills Proficiency with MS Office, Articulate Storyline, Questionmark, Author-It, and LMS toolsAbility to propose and guide the use of instructional technologiesExperience conducting FEAs and curriculum mappingAbility to support QA reviews and continuous improvement initiativesWorking ConditionsMust reside within the service territory and be located in the Bay Area.Hybrid schedule with onsite presence in Livermore (and occasionally San Ramon), several weeks per quarter.Monthly to quarterly travel required to locations.Occasional overnight stays may be necessary for meetings and project milestones.Mileage reimbursement is provided when applicable.BenefitsMedical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement FundAbout the CompanyA leading natural gas and electric energy company serving millions of customers across the United States.
