About the Role

This dual-role position is ideal for an accounting professional who is confident with all aspects of payroll and general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, billing, and enjoys contributing to continuous process improvement.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency. You'll play a key role in ensuring payroll compliance and accuracy, analyzing and preparing account reconciliations, and improving financial operations.

As a senior Accountant / Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for payroll function, including both exempt and non-exempt employees, including SCA employees, while ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing. This position requires a deep understanding of government contracting compliance, federal and state regulations and labor laws. You will collaborate closely with HR, to ensure smooth operations and compliance with all applicable requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Administration: Oversee end-to-end payroll processes for both salaried and hourly employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages, bonuses, and benefits. Full process between timekeeping and labor systems
  • Reconciliation:
    • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual with payroll service reports & Tax returns reconciliation of payroll and other balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
    • Reconcile payroll-related accounts (e.g., accrued payroll, payroll taxes, employee benefits) and resolve discrepancies with accounting and finance teams.
    • Manage reconciliation of timesheets to labor.
    • Manage and Oversee Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable
    • Oversee the monthly financial close process
    • Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity
    • Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
    • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
    • Monitor accounts receivable aging and collections
    • Oversee vendor payments and expense coding
    • Track and management equipment and fixed asset accounting

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of general accounting experience, with at least 10 years in a senior or leadership role, preferably within the government contracting industry with multiple outsourced payroll versions.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in payroll software (UKG, QuickBooks, Unanet,) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with SCA compliance.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop payroll teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing, reconciliation, and compliance reporting.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex payroll and reconciliation issues.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and communicate complex payroll concepts to non-experts.
