Maintenance & Equipment Support
- Carry out scheduled upkeep on packaging systems such as horizontal form-fill-seal units, vertical baggers, stick pack machines, auger dosing equipment, and tablet/capsule counters.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic issues.
- Perform changeovers and setup adjustments between different product runs.
- Maintain auxiliary systems including pumps, compressors, and plant utilities.
- Utilize wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and equipment manuals to support repairs and troubleshooting.
Production & Operations Assistance
- Operate packaging machines when needed to keep production on schedule.
- Partner with operators to ensure efficient setup and smooth line operation.
- Coordinate with quality teams to meet compliance standards during servicing.
- Provide rapid response to breakdowns in order to reduce downtime.
Compliance & Documentation
- Record maintenance tasks and work orders using digital maintenance systems.
- Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices during all service activities.
- Keep detailed records of modifications and repairs to align with FDA expectations.
- Support validation and qualification of new or modified equipment.
Process Improvement
- Monitor performance and suggest upgrades or changes to improve efficiency.
- Adjust preventive maintenance intervals based on machine performance.
- Assist in the integration of new technologies and machinery.
Qualifications
Experience & Abilities
- 2–5 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience, ideally in a production setting.
- Strong diagnostic ability in both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical documentation.
- Familiar with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control systems.
- Comfortable using computer-based maintenance software.
Technical Knowledge
- Awareness of cGMP practices within regulated production environments (preferred).
- Competent with hand tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Prior work on flexible packaging equipment is highly valued (stick packers, Bartelt, horizontal form-fill-seal).
- Basic machining or welding experience is considered an asset.
