Overview
Our client is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer with deep F5 expertise to lead the design, deployment, and automation of enterprise load balancing and application delivery services. This is not a broad network generalist role – the ideal candidate is an F5-focused engineer with extensive experience in advanced modules (ASM, APM, LTM) and automation using tools like Ansible and Terraform.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage all aspects of F5 platforms across enterprise environments (on-prem and cloud).
- Design, configure, and optimize load balancing solutions, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot iRules, TLS configurations, and traffic management policies.
- Configure and manage F5 using TMSH and BASH environments.
- Lead automation initiatives with Ansible and/or Terraform for consistent and repeatable deployments.
- Execute firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management for F5 appliances.
- Troubleshoot TCP-level issues and application delivery problems using TCPDump, Wireshark, and native F5 tools.
- Provide SME guidance on ASM (Application Security Manager), APM (Access Policy Manager), and SSL/TLS management.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and provide training/mentoring for support teams.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, risk management, and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7 years of hands-on engineering experience with F5 Load Balancing / Application Delivery Controllers.
- Proven expertise in:
- F5 LTM, ASM, APM, TLS/SSL, TCP troubleshooting
- Automation with Ansible and/or Terraform
- iRules creation and management
- Certificate and key management for secure environments
- Strong troubleshooting experience across OSI stack layers, including advanced TCP/IP and TLS.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5-CTS) strongly preferred.
- Additional F5 certifications (301b , ASM/APM specialist) highly desirable.
- Experience with BigIQ and AS3 deployments.
- AWS Cloud networking experience and automation (CFT, DO, Ansible).
- Current certifications (CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent) are a plus, but secondary to strong F5 focus.
Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
