About the Role
GTech is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Office Assistant to support the administrative operations of a local public agency. This is a contract position where you will work on-site at the agency’s office, providing clerical, financial, and organizational support to senior leadership and staff. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and comfortable working in a public-facing environment.
Responsibilities
The Office Assistant will provide day-to-day support that includes:
- Preparing meeting agendas, reports, and administrative documents
- Maintaining distribution lists and assisting with document distribution
- Serving as clerk for board and committee meetings, including attendance and minute-taking
- Assisting with website updates and basic content maintenance
- Handling incoming and outgoing mail
- Organizing and maintaining physical and digital filing systems
- Supporting daily and monthly reporting activities related to field operations
- Answering and directing phone calls during office hours
- Assisting with purchasing, licensing, and record-keeping for equipment and supplies
- Supporting field staff by maintaining activity logs and documentation
- Coordinating with outside agencies and partners as needed
- Responding courteously to public inquiries
- Performing additional related duties as required
Qualifications
- 2 years of administrative and/or financial office experience
- Experience in a public agency environment is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information professionally
Education & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; A.A. or higher preferred
- Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Must be able to work on-site during scheduled hours
- Must be available for occasional evening hours when meetings are held (with adjusted or additional paid hours)
Work Schedule
This role is currently structured as a part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week.
Typical schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
(Some flexibility may be available. Occasional evening meeting attendance required.)
Employment Structure
This is a W-2 contract position hired and managed by GTech. The Office Assistant will work daily on-site at a government office in the Santa Maria and support the agency’s leadership team. All employment matters, payroll, and HR processes are handled by GTech.
