GT Trucking & Logistics LLC is currently seeking a professional CDL-A Truck Driver to join our growing transportation team as an Independent Contractor (1099).
This position involves operating a company-owned tractor and pulling a step-deck trailer to transport machinery and equipment across regional and over-the-road routes.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-motivated driver who understands the responsibilities of working under a 1099 agreement — maintaining safe driving habits, reporting mechanical issues promptly, and representing the company with professionalism and integrity.
- Safely operate a tractor and step-deck trailer on regional and long-haul routes.
- Transport and secure loads such as machinery, construction equipment, and specialized freight.
- Properly secure cargo using chains, binders, straps, and tarps per FMCSA regulations.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and submit required reports.
- Report any maintenance issues or mechanical concerns immediately to the company to prevent equipment damage.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, bills of lading, and trip reports.
- Comply with all FMCSA/DOT safety rules, including Hours of Service and ELD requirements.
- Participate in random drug and alcohol testing as required.
- Communicate efficiently with dispatch and provide timely updates on load status.
- Maintain professional behavior with customers, brokers, and fellow drivers.
- Protect company property and equipment at all times; use only for authorized purposes.
- All dispatched miles paid (loaded and empty).
- Monthly performance bonus for reaching target miles.
- Layover/detention pay when collected from brokers/shippers.
- Weekly or bi-weekly payment via direct deposit.
- Independent Contractor (Form 1099) – driver responsible for own taxes and benefits.
- Valid CDL Class A license.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable OTR experience (step-deck, flatbed, or heavy haul preferred).
- Clean MVR and safe driving history.
- Ability to secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and tarps.
- Knowledge of FMCSA cargo securement rules and HOS regulations.
- Must be able to pass a DOT drug and alcohol screening.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- Must demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and attention to detail.
- Regional and OTR work available.
- Average 2,500–3,000 miles per week.
- Home every 2–3 weeks (flexible based on dispatch).
