We're looking for a female companion for my aunt who is 50 years old and lives in Norwich, CT with her mother. She is intellectually disabled and lives with bipolar disorder. She's funny, smart, and enjoys getting out of the house occasionally — but she does best with someone who's patient, emotionally grounded, and has a calm, no-nonsense personality. Someone who can offer kindness, structure, and understanding.
This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate but firm, dependable, and comfortable working with adults who experience mood changes.
What the job involves:
- Taking her out for coffee, lunch, or short outings
- Browsing stores or running errands together
- Spending time at home — chatting, watching TV, doing crafts, or just keeping her company
- Preparing nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences
- Providing steady, reliable and friendly companionship and support
- Familiarity with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
Schedule & Pay:
- Around 20–25 hours per week, with occasional weekends required
- $25/hour, paid through GT Independence (State of Connecticut program)
- Must be able to pass a background check and have a clean driving record
- Looking for someone to start as soon as possible
