Role: Performance Architect
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid Onsite)
Duration: 12 months
DETAILS:
We are looking for a Performance Architect with strong hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex performance issues across performance and production environments.
The ideal candidate should be able to identify root causes, provide actionable recommendations, and drive fixes across application, platform, and infrastructure layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks in Perf and Production environments
- Perform end-to-end root cause analysis across application, Kubernetes, cloud, networking, database, and OS layers
- Recommend and implement performance improvements and scalability solutions
- Collaborate with development, platform, SRE, and infrastructure teams to drive fixes
- Analyze load test results, production telemetry, and system metrics
- Define performance baselines, SLAs, and capacity planning models
- Drive proactive performance engineering and resiliency practices
- Introduce automation and AI-assisted troubleshooting workflows
Required Skills
- Strong experience in cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes performance (pods, autoscaling, scheduling, resource limits, networking)
- Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, LB, latency, TLS, connection reuse, routing, TCP dump analysis)
- Database performance tuning (SQL/NoSQL, indexing, connection pools, query optimization, thread dump, heap dump analysis)
- OS-level performance analysis (CPU, memory, IO, thread contention, GC, kernel limits)
- Experience troubleshooting distributed microservices architectures
- Hands-on with observability tools (APM, logs, metrics, tracing)
Good to Have
- Prior software development experience
- Experience with performance testing tools (BlazeMeter, JMeter, k6, Gatling, etc.)
- Familiarity with AI tools for troubleshooting and automation
- Chaos engineering / resiliency testing experience
- Experience with caching layers (Redis, CDN, edge)
- Retail / eCommerce domain expertise (traffic spikes, peak events, checkout flows, cart, search, promotions)
