GSG Protective Services is seeking a seasoned, results-driven Vice President to oversee our California operations across three branch offices. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced security industry executive who understands California's regulatory landscape, knows how to scale operations, and is passionate about developing strong managers and high-performing teams.
You'll have full operational and people-leadership responsibility across all three California branches, with direct accountability for service delivery, client retention, financial performance, and compliance with California's complex labor and security regulations.
What You’ll Do
As VP of California Operations, you will:
- Multi-Branch Leadership: Oversee all aspects of operations across three California branch offices, ensuring consistent service excellence and adherence to company standards.
- Branch Manager Development: Directly supervise, mentor, and develop Branch Managers and their teams; hold leaders accountable for branch performance, client retention, and team development.
- California Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with California labor laws, wage and hour requirements, meal/rest break rules, BSIS regulations, and all applicable state and local laws governing private security operations.
- Financial Performance: Own P&L responsibility for California operations; review and approve branch budgets, payroll, billing, scheduling, and financial reports; identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
- Client Relations: Maintain executive-level relationships with key clients across the state; lead resolution of escalated client issues; support sales efforts and new client startups.
- Operational Excellence: Establish and enforce consistent operating procedures, SOPs, post orders, and reporting standards across all three branches.
- Talent Strategy: Drive hiring, retention, succession planning, and leadership development across the California region; ensure each branch has the management talent needed to grow.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute regional growth strategies; partner with executive leadership on expansion, new business development, and operational improvements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Deliver detailed operational and financial reports including audits, incident reporting, trend analysis, and forecasts to executive leadership.
- Crisis & Emergency Response: Provide executive-level support during critical incidents, emergency situations, and escalated operational matters across the region.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 8 years of progressive leadership experience in the security services industry (or closely related field)
- 3 years of multi-site or multi-branch management experience overseeing managers and supervisors
- Demonstrated working knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour rules, meal/rest break requirements, overtime regulations, and final pay rules
- Strong understanding of California BSIS regulations and licensing requirements for private security operations
- Proven P&L ownership with experience managing budgets, payroll, and operational financial performance
- Track record of developing and retaining strong management teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level client communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and modern workforce management systems
- Valid California Guard Card (BSIS registration) maintained throughout employment
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to travel between California branch offices
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Criminal Justice, or related field (Master’s a plus)
- 10 years of security industry experience
- Prior VP, Regional Manager, or Regional Director experience at a contract security services company
- Experience with WinTeam, TrakTik, or similar security workforce management platforms
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Established network of California-based security industry contacts and clients
