Position Overview
The Project Director will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale mechanical construction projects, ensuring technical excellence, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
This role requires a seasoned leader who can manage complex, fast-paced projects, mentor project teams, and strengthen client relationships in highly regulated and mission-critical industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee multiple mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring all technical, financial, and schedule objectives are met.
- Client Management: Serve as the primary executive interface with clients in the pharma/life sciences and data center sectors—building strong, trust-based relationships.
- Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, forecasts, and profitability; identify and mitigate risks while maintaining commercial discipline.
- Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop project managers, engineers, and field leadership to deliver consistent quality and performance.
- Operational Excellence: Implement project management best practices, promote safety, and ensure compliance with all company and client standards.
- Strategic Growth: Collaborate with senior leadership to identify new business opportunities, contribute to proposals, and expand the company’s regional presence.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with estimating, fabrication, and field operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (P.E. license or advanced degree preferred).
- 10–15 years of experience in mechanical contracting with expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and piping for complex facilities.
- Proven track record managing large or multiple concurrent projects ($10M in value).
- Experience delivering projects in pharmaceutical/life sciences and/or mission-critical data center environments.
- Strong financial acumen with full P&L responsibility on major projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Deep understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory standards in controlled environments.
