Project Director - MEP Construction - Mission Critical Markets - Raleigh, NC
Gryphon Oakwood is currently partnered with a leading mechanical construction and engineering organization is seeking an experienced Project Director to join its Project Management team in Raleigh, NC.
The organization is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in the fabrication, installation, modification, and ongoing service of process piping, power piping, boiler systems, industrial equipment, industrial ventilation, HVAC, plumbing, and related mechanical systems. The company has successfully delivered complex projects across multiple states and serves a diverse range of markets, including emerging technology, data centers, healthcare, laboratories, pharmaceutical, automotive, and education.
Responsibilities
- Monitor project performance and ensure projects under the Director's oversight meet established financial goals and are regularly reported to executive leadership.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including owners, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project schedule performance, work plans, labor productivity, and other key performance indicators.
- Lead and manage teams delivering complex mechanical projects involving HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems from project award through completion.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to establish project execution strategies, scope, and plans for success.
- Review construction documents and provide direction and technical guidance to project management teams.
- Schedule and lead internal and external project meetings as required.
- Review and provide guidance on the development of detailed project schedules for contracted scopes of work.
- Coach, mentor, and develop project management personnel to achieve individual and team performance objectives.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives and leadership meetings.
- Collaborate with company leadership to identify workforce requirements and develop strategies to support current and future projects.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in mechanical construction project management, with significant experience in HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent demonstrated construction management experience will also be considered.
- Experience with construction management and project management software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Procore. Experience with Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Viewpoint, and Autodesk is a plus.
- Strong estimating experience, including the ability to prepare change-order estimates and translate estimated labor hours into resource-loaded project schedules.
- Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend construction drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
