Job Summary
Medical Records is a member of the administrative team and works closely with outside entities and staff throughout the organization. Appropriately and accurately verify and process requests for charts to be pulled for patient care, quality review, and audits in a timely manner. Accurately scan and Index medical records to the appropriate chart. Release information to patients, healthcare facilities and other entities by following all laws and regulations including HIPAA.
Duties And Responsibilities
Appropriately and accurately pulls records for patient care, quality review, and audits in a timely manner.
Observe confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information.
Responsible for coordinating the release of medical information to insurance companies, lawyers, state, and federal agencies.
Responsible for processing of affidavit subpoenas and court orders, at the direction of immediate supervisor.
Verify legitimacy, accuracy and authority of all such requests and then process and invoice in accordance with Gryphon Healthcare policy and procedures and state and federal laws.
Record and track all records requests, releases and authorizations within the Electronic Medical Record.
Report breaches, instances of non-compliance, patient complaints, problems or similar instances to supervisor in an effort to protect patient HPI.
Maintain a good working relationship within the department and other departments.
Adhere to Gryphon Healthcare requirements, policies, and standards.
Provide excellent customer service.
Document filing of all records.
Perform other duties as assigned including answering phones, responding to emails, faxes and processing postage mail.
