The Safety Engineer is responsible for the safety of the employees at the jobsite and to ensure that all personnel assigned to the project are fully aware of applicable elements of the Safety Plan and have been properly trained to ensure compliance. This position also requires the need to help preplan for the work with the project staff and Contractors by requesting and reviewing safety work plans and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA’s) well ahead of the scheduled preparatory meetings before Contractors begin work.
A Safety Engineer is an entry-level role learning the foundations of Safety in General Contracting. A Safety Engineer will support and learn from both safety teams and field superintendent teams. The Safety Engineer reports to the Director of Corporate Safety.
Requirements
Preferred Experience:
Safety internship experience. OSHA 30 hour course; Competent Person Training (CPT) in fall protection, confined space, scaffolding, and excavation.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety (or related field).

Summary
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Present the new hire orientation to those workers arriving to the project and answer questions
- Request and review submitted work plans from subcontractors to confirm they are detailed and accurate. Provide comments when needed before contractors perform work.
- Perform and document daily safety audits to verify that the work is being done in accordance with the submitted and approved safety plans
- Promptly follow-up with open issues from safety audits to confirm issues have been adequately addressed and resolved in a timely manner
- Provide assistant and guidance when needed to help those in the field do what is necessary to perform the work safely

Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
