The Field Engineer is responsible for supervision, time, safety, material and tools. The Field Engineer is responsible for general support of the Assistant Superintendent and the Superintendent. The Field Engineer supports the Assistant Superintendent in a specific part of the project and is responsible for safety, overall coordination, and the use and care of tools within that area of responsibility.
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent and administratively to the Director of Field Operations.

Requirements
- Required Education
- HS Diploma or G.E.D
- Required Experience
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the construction industry.
- Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Construction safety knowledge
- Site logistics coordination
- Site layout and stake out (line & grade)
- Subcontractor coordination and look-ahead scheduling
- Site daily reporting process
- Quality control process
- Subcontract administration and enforcement
- Read and interpret project CPM schedule
- Submittal and RFI review and interpretation
Responsibilities/Duties
- Support of Superintendent
- Collect subcontractor manpower reports and verify the accuracy of same
- Fill out Grunley mandatory daily reports
- Document existing conditions thoroughly
- Take accurate field measurements as required
- Schedule material deliveries and coordinate the logistics of such - schedule, lay down area, storage, etc.
- Provide input to the 3 week look ahead schedule
- Solve routine problems - if assistant cannot solve, then present to superintendent
- Supervise a Specific Part of the Project
- Must be able to coordinate subcontractor work with help from the superintendent
- Must be able to effectively direct Grunley self-perform manpower to install work within time frames given
- Must be able to read, understand and communicate information from construction drawings and specifications, submittal data, and other project correspondence as required
- Safety
- Chair safety meetings; ensure 100% participation and understanding of safety issues affecting the project
- Monitor project for unsafe conditions
- Give proper and immediate direction to correct unsafe conditions
- Coordination
- Coordinate the work of multiple subcontractors within the space and time allotted
- Coordinate Grunley self-performed work with schedule and site conditions
- Self-Performed Work
- Supervision
- Responsible for production of tradesmen. Develop necessary production rates for trades to complete their work in accordance with the Grunley schedule.
- Notify trade supervisors of need to increase or decrease work force
- Time
- Track manpower time
- Submit time each day to supervisor
- Safety
- Monitor site for unsafe conditions
- Notify supervisor of unsafe conditions
- Report all accidents to supervisor immediately
- Give toolbox talks if requested
- Material
- Plan for material needed to perform a task
- Store material securely and safely
- Tools
- Maintain tools
- Notify supervisor if repairs are needed
- Store tools - secure and lock up (i.e.., tool room or gang box)
- Inventory tools - maintain list
- Notify supervisor of missing tools
- Attend, as assigned, all Grunley in-house and external training programs

Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
