Sales Engineer- Greater Chicago

We are seeking a talented and motivated Sales Engineer with a strong background in component manufacturing, machining, and OEM customer engagement. This role combines business development, technical sales, and project management and supports quoting activities as needed in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

This role is a good fit for someone who understands both the technical and commercial sides of working with large OEMs and can bring structure, responsiveness, and credibility to complex customer relationships.

Position Purpose:

The Sales Engineer will support growth across existing OEM relationships while identifying and developing new business opportunities. Success in this role requires strong technical fluency, the ability to clearly communicate value, and a customer-first mindset throughout the sales and project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Business Development

  • Cultivate and expand relationships with existing OEM customers.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target markets.
  • Apply machining and manufacturing knowledge to customer conversations and solution development.
  • Communicate the organization’s capabilities through tailored, customer-specific solutions.
  • Support sales strategies that drive revenue growth and highlight technical strengths.
  • Prepare and present proposals, presentations, and technical demonstrations.

Project Management

  • Manage customer projects from concept through delivery.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and logistics teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Track milestones, timelines, and deliverables, proactively addressing risks and issues.
  • Support PPAP activities and incorporate APQP principles into project execution.
  • Serve as a primary customer contact throughout the project lifecycle.

Quoting and Technical Support

  • Review technical specifications and support the quoting process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely RFQ responses.
  • Provide technical guidance to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Recommend practical solutions aligned with manufacturing capabilities and customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in component manufacturing, machining, technical sales, or account management.
  • Strong understanding of OEM requirements, machining processes, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Experience with PPAP and APQP methodologies.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and customer priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player.
  • Willingness to travel 50%.

Success Profile:

The strongest candidates will bring both technical credibility and commercial instincts. They will be comfortable translating complex manufacturing concepts into clear customer value, while staying organized across quoting, project follow-up, and relationship management.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $130,000–$150,000 annually plus bonuses, with final compensation based on experience, education, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
