This role involves assessment, intervention, and collaboration with educators, families, and other school personnel to help students develop or regain functional skills necessary for educational achievement and independence. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
- Develop individualized therapy plans based on evaluation results and student-specific educational goals.
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students with disabilities as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, special educators, school psychologists, and other related service providers to integrate OT goals into classroom activities and school routines.
- Document and maintain accurate records of evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and communications with families and staff.
- Participate in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing expertise to goal development and educational planning.
- Educate school staff and families on strategies to support student engagement and functional independence.
- Recommend and assist with adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to promote student access and participation.
- Stay current with best practices, legal requirements, and innovations in school-based occupational therapy.
