Duties
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to determine client needs and treatment plans
- Deliver individual, group, child & family counseling, and youth therapy sessions employing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and behavior management techniques
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during acute episodes
- Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards, HIPAA regulations, and ethical guidelines
- Facilitate intake assessments via telehealth or in-person settings, ensuring comprehensive patient evaluation and appropriate case management
- Maintain detailed medical records, clinical documentation, and progress notes in EMR/EHR systems following HIPAA compliance and clinical documentation standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, special education staff, and case managers to coordinate holistic care for clients with co-occurring disorders or disabilities
- Engage in ongoing research and data collection to support evidence-based practice improvements and clinical research initiatives
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics or individuals with developmental disabilities
- Proven expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, addiction counseling, grief counseling, or behavior therapy
- Experience working with individuals experiencing PTSD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), chronic pain conditions or co-occurring disorders
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, behavior management, patient assessment and treatment planning
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, medical terminology, and clinical documentation standards
- Telehealth experience preferred; ability to adapt counseling techniques for virtual platforms while maintaining engagement and confidentiality
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical ethical guidelines essential for maintaining patient privacy and data security
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration; experience working in inpatient or outpatient settings highly desirable
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while demonstrating empathy and cultural competence
