Location: Canonsburg, PA travel-based role across the tri-state region (PA/WV/OH)
Schedule: Full-time; majority of work is on the road
Travel: Extensive team stays in provided lodging during the week; employees return home approximately 2 weekends each month
Position Overview
As a Traveling Forestry Technician with Growing Seasons Landscaping (GSL), youll help protect and restore natural environments by removing invasive species, assisting with reforestation, and maintaining forested areas. This is a highly active, outdoor position ideal for individuals who enjoy physical work, conservation efforts, and making a visible impact on the environment.
You will work on a professional, safety-focused team where reliability, strong communication, and respect are core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform invasive species removal and assist with site mapping and field documentation.
- Apply and record herbicide treatments following environmental and GSL guidelines.
- Participate in reforestation and tree-planting projects.
- Safely use hand tools and powered equipment such as trimmers, brush cutters, backpack sprayers, and chainsaws (training provided).
- Maintain, clean, and organize tools, trucks, and field equipment.
- Support additional field operations to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, treatment forms, and safety documentation.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- College student, graduate, or experienced worker in a science-related field (Forestry, Wildlife, Environmental Science, Biology, Botany, etc.)
- 18 years or older with a valid drivers license and clean driving/background record
- Able to work safely and effectively in rugged outdoor conditions (heat, rain, uneven terrain)
- Comfortable working away from home for extended periods
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding field tasks
- Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability
Travel & Lodging:
- Majority of the workweek is spent in the field at project sites
- Lodging provided during travel
- Per diem provided
- Employee returns home approximately two weekends per month
