Part-Time Full Charge Bookkeeper – Construction (QuickBooks & Buildertrend)Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our established custom home building and remodeling company. Our company has been in business for over 25 years and has built a strong reputation for quality craftsmanship and client service.
This role will manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business while ensuring accuracy, organization, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate will have experience with construction accounting, including job costing, subcontractor management, and construction draw billing.
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 18–20 hours per week. The position requires strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Buildertrend.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks and Buildertrend
- Prepare monthly construction billing and project draws
- Process and track subcontractor payments and lien releases
- Manage accounts payable including vendor invoices and payments
- Log into Paychex to report employee hours and coordinate payroll processing
- Perform monthly bank, loan, and credit card reconciliations, including reconciliations for company property rental accounts
- Maintain and review the general ledger to ensure financial accuracy
- Generate monthly financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets
- Assist with job costing and project financial tracking
- Coordinate with the company’s CPA for year-end financial reporting and quarterly tax payments
- Prepare and issue 1099 forms and ensure tax compliance
- Maintain insurance compliance documentation
- Prepare financial documents and supporting materials for annual audits
- Respond to bank requests and financial documentation inquiries
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper, preferably in the construction industry
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks
- Experience with Buildertrend (required)
- Experience preparing construction draws and lien releases
- Familiarity with construction job costing
- Experience with Paychex payroll reporting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and double-entry accounting
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy
- Strong communication skills, including interaction with clients, vendors, and financial institutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with custom home builders or residential remodeling companies
- Familiarity with construction accounting practices, including progress billing and subcontractor management
- Experience supporting CPA coordination and audit preparation
