What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founder's Associate position at Group 206?
Group 206 Team is incubating a new toy company, and we're hiring one Founder's Associate to work directly with the founder building it from the ground up. The name of the new company will be released later this year.
This is not a corporate job. If you are looking for structure, defined roles, and a predictable path, this is not the right fit.
The founder has 35 years of experience and has built and sold four companies, including multiple large-scale consumer products and entertainment businesses — one of which exceeded $1B in revenue prior to exit.
This role is a direct apprenticeship. You will work alongside the founder across every part of the business — product, licensing, operations, and go-to-market — learning by doing, not observing.
What You'll Do
- Work directly with the founder on day-to-day execution
- Research product ideas, trends, and opportunities
- Support licensing, partnerships, and go-to-market strategy
- Help build internal processes and operations from scratch
- Solve problems across whatever needs to get done
Who You Are
- Scrappy, resourceful, and figure things out without being told
- High-agency — you take ownership and move fast
- Comfortable with ambiguity and constant change
- Prefer building over observing
- Strong communicator and clear thinker
- Local to Orange County or willing to be in Newport Beach regularly
Background
- 1–3 years of full-time experience (startup, consulting, consumer products, or similar)
- MBA is not required
- Evidence of initiative matters far more than credentials
What You'll Get
- Direct exposure to building a company from zero
- Real responsibility early
- A steep learning curve across multiple disciplines
- Opportunity to grow into a long-term leadership role
- Meaningful upside for the right person
