Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection to ensure smooth workflow.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical preparations and procedures to prevent infections.
- Handle animals with care using proper animal husbandry practices, ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations and treatments.
- Operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines, ensuring high-quality imaging for accurate assessment.
- Provide pet care services, including administering medications under veterinarian supervision.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and extractions when needed.
- Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animal behavior to promote health and well-being.
- Document all patient information accurately in medical records while adhering to veterinary terminology standards.
Qualifications
- Proven technician experience along with a strong foundation in animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology essential for effective communication and treatment support.
- Laboratory experience including sample processing and diagnostic testing preferred.
- Familiarity with radiography (X-ray) operation and interpretation is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle dogs confidently through training techniques or dog handling skills.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques necessary for surgical prep and infection control.
- Competence in using veterinary equipment such as X-ray machines, dental tools, and laboratory instruments.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
