Gross Electric is a leading industrial and commercial electrical contractor with a strong presence across the Northeast and an expanding footprint in the Carolinas. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and grow our Upstate-area operations as we continue to scale our regional work.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who has run electrical work, understands manpower, productivity, and cost control, and can also support business development through operational credibility, relationships, and execution planning. This is an opportunity to help build a region, not just manage projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations for all Gross Electric projects in the Upstate SC market
- Oversee Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership
- Ensure projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and safety expectations
- Drive manpower planning, labor productivity, and workforce deployment
- Support project startup, forecasting, and schedule recovery
- Partner with estimating and preconstruction on project handoff and execution planning
- Support business development efforts by:
- Assisting with pursuit strategy and go/no-go decisions
- Providing operational input during preconstruction and interviews
- Supporting client, GC, and trade partner relationships in the region
- Maintain strong relationships with owners, GCs, inspectors, and labor partners
- Implement consistent operating standards and accountability across projects
- Mentor and develop project and field leadership teams
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in electrical construction
- Proven experience managing multiple industrial and/or commercial projects
- Strong understanding of labor planning, productivity, cost control, and forecasting
- Experience supporting business development, pursuits, or client relationships
- Union experience preferred (IBEW exposure a plus)
- Hands-on leadership style with strong field presence
- Organized, decisive, and accountable
