What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Electrical Engineer - PCB Design position at Groe Advisors LLC?
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead hardware development for a line of precision electromechanical instruments. This role centers on PCB design as the core function. You''''''''ll take boards from initial concept all the way through production, working alongside mechanical, firmware, and systems teams to deliver high-performance, power-efficient hardware.
The hardware portfolio spans everything from low-noise analog circuitry to FPGA-based digital logic. You don''''''''t need to be an expert in every discipline, but you should bring strong fundamentals and the drive to pick up what you don''''''''t already know.
What You''''''''ll Do
- Architect and build electronics for a next-generation instrument platform
- Drive custom assemblies – boards, cabling, subassemblies – from initial design through manufacturing release and field support
- Make and defend engineering trade-offs across interconnected subsystems
- Take PCBAs from design intent to manufacturing-ready, supporting demanding sensing and acquisition circuitry
- Partner with other engineering functions on both product improvements and new product development
- Investigate reliability issues and drive root-cause fixes across design and process
Must-Have Qualifications
- Hands-on, end-to-end PCB design experience – schematic capture, custom component/library creation, board layout, prototype bring-up, and debug
- Altium Designer expertise
- Working knowledge of Verilog for FPGA/CPLD development
- Comfort with standard electronics test/measurement equipment and practices
- Familiarity operating within formal engineering processes – design reviews, verification/validation testing, PLM systems, QMS documentation
- Clear written and verbal communicator
- Track record collaborating cross-functionally to hit system-level performance targets
- Altera/Intel FPGA experience using Quartus is preferred; candidates with primarily Xilinx background are also welcome to apply
- Plus any two of the following:
- Circuit simulation tool experience (LTSpice, TINA, similar)
- Background in DSP, feedback/control systems, or embedded coding (C/C /Python)
Education & Experience
- BSEE required (MSEE a plus)
- 7 years of hands-on electronic design experience
Salary : $140,000 - $155,000
