Job Summary:
Gritman Medical Center is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Courier to join our Courier Services team. This position is responsible for driving a hospital vehicle to transport various items, including specimens, supplies, instruments, cash bags, documents, and other goods, to and from Gritman facilities and clinics on and off-campus.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow the daily schedule to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
- Handle and transport specimens and biohazardous materials safely using appropriate protective equipment.
- Navigate to multiple locations using an electronic map or provided instructions.
- Maintain documentation for deliveries and pickups as required.
- Safely operate a vehicle in all weather conditions.
Job Requirements:
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and maintain throughout employment.
- Must possess valid vehicle insurance at the time of hire and maintain throughout employment.
Experience:
- Experience following a daily schedule is preferred.
- Familiarity with driving in diverse weather conditions is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to use electronic maps for locating addresses is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent lifting of items up to 20 lbs; occasional lifting up to 60 lbs (with assistance as needed).
- Occasional pushing/pulling carts up to 60 lbs.
- Sitting/driving for up to 2 hours at a time.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and occasional stair climbing.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, wind, rain, hail, snow, frost, and ice).
- Gloves must be worn during specimen transfers and while handling biohazardous materials.
