**THIS IS A PRN POSITION**

The Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) provides basic nursing care, within their scope of practice, to patients in the direction of the Staff RN or LPN. The primary duties of the C.N.A. are to assist patients with activities of daily living and to provide basic patient care needs and comfort. They may assist the nursing staff with the development of the patient care plan. The C.N.A. will demonstrate safe and competent nursing care, reflective of the philosophy and standards of Gritman Medical Center, following the guidelines and rules set forth by the Idaho State Board of Nursing, American Nurses’ Association, and the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. They will communicate effectively with other care givers and function as a member of the patient care team. They are directly accountable to the staff nurse and will report patient outcomes as appropriate. The C.N.A. will have and maintain adequate physical and mental health to meet job performance criteria. The C.N.A. will demonstrate a code of conduct reflective of Gritman Medical Center’s mission, vision, and values.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver basic nursing care within your scope of practice under the direction of the Staff RN or LPN in the assigned unit.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
  • Provide for the basic comfort and care needs of patients.
  • Support nursing staff in developing patient care plans.
  • Adhere to guidelines and rules set by the Idaho State Board of Nursing, American Nurses' Association, and The Joint Commission.
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the care team.
  • Function as an integral member of the patient care team.
  • Report patient outcomes and findings to the appropriate staff.

Job Requirements:

  • Required Education: Completion of a nursing assistant course.
  • Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Idaho Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Functional Demands:

  • Populations Served: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. All genders, races, ethnic groups, developmental and physical abilities, and more.
  • Physical Demands: Lifting, transferring, pushing/pulling, standing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, and climbing are required, with specific weight limits and frequency detailed in the full job description. Must possess good manual and finger dexterity, along with the ability to differentiate colors, depth perception, and focus. Hearing, speech, and sense of touch are essential.
  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to bloodborne diseases and various patient-related situations. The role may involve irregular hours/shifts, emergencies, and crisis situations.
