Our client is a well-established food manufacturing company known for its long-standing tradition, high-volume production, and commitment to quality, consistency, and innovation. Their environment is fast-paced, highly regulated, and heavily process-driven, requiring strong discipline and real-time execution on the production floor.


Role Overview:

The Supply Chain – Jr. Process Improvement Engineer is a hands-on role, primarily based on the production floor, responsible for ensuring material accuracy, batch integrity, system compliance, and adherence to procedures. This role acts as the bridge between Supply Chain, Production, Warehouse, and Quality Assurance, providing real-time feedback to ensure efficient and compliant operations. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and flexible, able to adapt to different schedules, enforce process discipline on the floor, and maintain focus on operational priorities while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.


Job Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 2–5 years in manufacturing, food production, pharmaceutical, or regulated environments.
  • Able to commute between our two sites (Newark and Clifton).
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MES systems (PRIMS, BatchMaster, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Knowledge of lot control, traceability, FIFO, and batch production processes.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety/quality systems, and inventory control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite for analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Comfortable working in a plant/floor environment for most of the workday.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and support different production shifts.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, and inspect materials and equipment for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in varied plant conditions, including temperature fluctuations and noise.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, handling materials, and performing manual tasks safely.
  • Flexible to work different schedules and shifts as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate Materials: Confirm lot numbers, expiration dates, FIFO compliance, and batch accuracy on the production floor.
  • Support Batch Execution: Assist in batch start, in-process checks, and batch closeout, ensuring correct materials are issued before processing.
  • Close Production Batches: Accurately complete batch closure in systems (PRIMS, BatchMaster, SAP) on schedule.
  • Resolve Discrepancies: Investigate and correct material issues, inventory mismatches, and batch exceptions.
  • Maintain Documentation: Ensure all records, traceability logs, and audit documentation are complete and compliant.
  • Inventory & Reconciliation: Perform cycle counts, identify discrepancies, and coordinate with Warehouse and Planning to resolve in near real-time.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, QA, and Planning, escalating systemic issues to leadership with clear data.
  • Process Discipline & Training: Reinforce SOPs, train operators and supervisors, and document process gaps.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in audits, mock recalls, and internal compliance reviews to improve processes.
  • Operational Support: Perform necessary tasks during resource shortages and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
