Role Description The Senior Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in La Porte, TX. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, month-end and year-end closing processes. This role ensures compliance with company policies and accounting standards while providing timely and accurate financial information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- At least two years of accounting experience is required.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP software, Microsoft Dynamics and Sage 100.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with financial reporting and audit support.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and support non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site in La Porte, TX, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain fixed asset additions and disposals.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and account variances.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls.
- Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Process sales and use tax filings and other regulatory reports, as applicable.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
