Job Title: Warehouse/Yard Associate (Forklift Operator)
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Warehouse/Yard Associate to join our team. This position is responsible for loading and unloading materials, maintaining organized inventory, assisting customers with order pickups, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a physically demanding outdoor setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials from trucks using a forklift and manual labor
- Store and organize materials in the warehouse and yard
- Pull and prepare customer and delivery orders accurately
- Greet customers and assist with loading materials in a courteous and efficient manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse and yard areas
- Perform daily forklift inspections and complete required documentation
- Report inventory shortages or discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager
- Follow all company safety procedures and material handling guidelines
- Assist supervisors and team members with additional tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous forklift experience (preferred)
- Experience with lumber or building materials (a plus)
Skills & Abilities
- Basic math and reading
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow instructions and complete paperwork accurately
- Team player with a strong work ethic
- Knowledge of safe lifting techniques
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 lbs regularly
- Capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching overhead
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat and cold)
- Ability to operate machinery safely and effectively
Work Environment
- Outdoor and warehouse setting
- Frequent use of mechanical equipment
- Exposure to building materials and equipment requiring safe handling
Certifications
- Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
