Main Function:

  • Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls.

  • Greets patients and other visitors to the office.

  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary departments throughout Griffin Faculty Physicians and Griffin Hospital.

o Coordinates surgical appointment with patient and Griffin Hospital's operating room and/or GI suite or Childbirth Center. Completes OR booking forms at the direction of the Surgeon

o Provides Griffin Hospital Pre-admission testing with medical clearance and informed consent

o Organize surgical assists within Specialty and/or coordinate cross-Specialty Physician surgical collaborations

  • Coordinates surgical patient medical clearance appointments with PCP as required at the Physicians' discretion

  • Schedules pre-operative and post-operative patient appointments as needed

  • Contacts insurance carriers to obtain prior authorizations as needed.

  • Manages provider's office schedule to reflect time out of office for surgical procedures.

  • Provides general clerical support for the office and assist the practice manager as needed.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years administrative experience in a medical office.

  • Experience with surgical booking and medical billing required.

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Experience working with electronic health records required.

  • Must possess strong customer service skills and must be able to multi-task.
