Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for compiling data, preparing essential shipping documentation, and managing the movement of all inbound and outbound freight for The Griff Network, a leading manufacturer and distributor of paper and plastic products. This role ensures the efficient, timely, and cost-effective flow of materials and finished goods, supporting our commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
The Logistics Coordinator will perform the following duties, focusing on both domestic and international shipping:
- Freight Processing & Coordination:
- Process and coordinate all outbound customer shipments, including Small Package, Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), and Truckload (TL), for both domestic and international destinations.
- Arrange and schedule all inbound freight necessary for manufacturing and distribution operations.
- Compile data and accurately prepare all required shipping documentation, including packing slips, shipping logs, Bills of Lading (BOLs), commercial invoices, and export/import paperwork.
- Negotiate and coordinate with various domestic and international carriers, freight forwarders, and brokers to secure favorable rates and ensure service quality.
- Operational Support:
- Serve as a backup to the Receiving Clerk to maintain continuous material flow, which may include assisting with material handling and inventory counts.
- Interact effectively with all internal departments (e.g., Sales, Production, Planning) to ensure on-time delivery of finished products and receipt of raw materials.
- Maintain organized and detailed records of all logistics activities and documentation.
- Packaging & Compliance:
- Ensure all shipments are packaged appropriately and securely, including hands-on involvement with fabricating custom skids and crates as needed to prevent transit damage.
- Ensure strict compliance with all domestic and international shipping regulations, including hazardous material handling rules and customs requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor and track shipments, resolving discrepancies, damages, or delivery issues quickly and efficiently.
- Identify opportunities to optimize freight costs, improve transit times, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management to support the Warehouse and Operations departments.
Education and/or Experience
- Education: High school education or equivalent work experience is needed.
- Experience:
- Previous related shipping, receiving, or logistics coordination experience of 3 to 5 years in a manufacturing or distribution environment is required.
- Proven experience with coordinating various carrier arrangements (Small Package, LTL, TL, International Ocean/Air).
- Previous knowledge and proven hands-on skills with fabricating skids and crates for safe transport.
Experience & Other Requirements
- Possess excellent attention and respect for detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software for shipping and receiving functions is a plus.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with carriers, vendors, customers, and internal staff.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
