POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator
STATUS: Part-time or Full-time hours will be considered depending on the needs and experience of the candidate.
REQUIREMENTS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must provide an official, clean Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Record, and FBI fingerprint check every five years.
FUNCTION: This position is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and coordination of volunteers to assist in programming, caring for the horses, grounds, and facility, and special events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Coordinate with other staff to determine volunteer needs; work to fill all positions with appropriate volunteer coverage according to task and ability.
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers and staff to ensure schedules are accurate, and volunteers are aware of their responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to, in-person and email correspondence, and coverage of the volunteer phone.
- Maintain volunteer records, ensuring all required documentation is current and complete.
- Maintain online volunteer software system and assist volunteers in utilizing the system appropriately.
- Assist in various roles, as needed, when volunteer coverage is not available.
- Plan and facilitate volunteer recruitment and retention efforts.
- Coordinate with other staff to schedule volunteer orientation, training, and education opportunities. Assisting in the facilitation of these opportunities may be required.
- Execute additional duties or responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Volunteer coordination, recruitment, and retention experience required.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is required.
- Current mandated reporter training is required.
- Equine experience is preferred.
- Computer experience and competency including Microsoft office software is required.
- Clerical/administration experience is desired.
- Ability to build positive relationships with others, fostering a safe and positive environment to work, learn, and grow.
- Display good discernment, and problem-solving skills. Be able to work under pressure, diffuse conflicts, and maintain an approachable and friendly demeanor.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, as part of a team is essential.
- Demonstrate commitment and competency in all responsibilities.
- The ability to work on-site as well as remotely is required as assigned.
- Some weekend and holiday work may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to see, hear, and speak effectively.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to kneel, stoop, reach, push, pull, climb, and traverse uneven terrain.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
EVALUATION: A progress and skills review will be performed after 60 days of employment. Annual reviews will be performed thereafter.
SALARY & INCENTIVES: Dependent on experience and full-time/part-time status.
