Accessories Design & Product Development Leader

Position Overview

Greyson is looking for an experienced Accessories Design & Product Development leader to help build and execute our growing accessories business across both Men’s and Women’s.

This role sits at the intersection of design, technical development, and product execution. While a strong product eye is important, we are looking first and foremost for a highly capable executor; someone who understands how to take an accessories concept from initial direction through development and into a commercially viable finished product.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of accessories, strong product development instincts, and the ability to independently drive multiple categories and development timelines. This person will partner closely with Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, and external vendors to translate creative direction into product while maintaining quality, functionality, cost, and brand standards.

This position is based in Detroit, Michigan and works directly out of our Design Studio. We are looking for someone to build this function within the team. Title and pay will commensurate with experience.

This is not a remote position. Candidates who are not currently in the Detroit area must be willing to relocate.

What You’ll Do

• Own design and product development execution for Greyson’s Men’s and Women’s Accessories categories.
• Translate seasonal creative direction and product concepts into clear, executable product specifications.
• Drive products through the full development lifecycle, from initial concept and technical development through sampling, revisions, approvals, and production readiness.
• Create and maintain detailed technical specifications, construction details, material requirements, and development documentation.
• Partner with vendors and development resources to troubleshoot construction, quality, material, and execution challenges.
• Evaluate prototypes and samples for construction, function, quality, aesthetics, and adherence to intended design.
• Manage multiple product development calendars and priorities, proactively identifying risks and keeping development on track.
• Partner closely with Raw Materials/Sourcing to identify appropriate materials, trims, components, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Balance design intent with manufacturability, cost targets, quality standards, and commercial viability.
• Develop strong relationships with external vendors and manufacturing partners and hold partners accountable to development expectations.
• Help establish scalable development processes and standards as Greyson’s Accessories business continues to grow.
• Serve as a technical resource and accessories subject-matter expert across the organization.
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• Must be based in Detroit and able to work on-site in a hybrid environment; relocation is required if not already local
• 7 - 10 years of experience in accessories design, product development, technical design, or a closely related discipline.
• Significant hands-on experience developing accessories from concept through production.
• Strong technical understanding of accessory construction, materials, components, manufacturing methods, and development processes.
• Demonstrated ability to translate creative concepts into technically executable products.
• Experience managing vendor development, sampling, approvals, and production handoff.
• Strong understanding of costing, quality, manufacturability, and development timelines.
• Highly organized with the ability to independently manage multiple products, vendors, and deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a bias toward action and execution.
• Collaborative working style with the ability to partner across Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, and Production.
• Comfortable operating in a growing category where processes and capabilities are still being built.
  
  

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Product Development, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
