Patient Transport Driver / Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) β Full Time (Swing Shift)
Schedule: Full-Time | Swing Shift (afternoons/evenings, some weekends required)
Position Overview
Greylock Recovery is seeking a reliable, professional Patient Transport Driver / Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support safe patient transportation and provide direct care support when not driving. This dual-role position is critical to patient safety, engagement, and continuity of care.
The ideal candidate is dependable, calm under pressure, trauma-informed, and comfortable working in a structured healthcare environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Patient Transportation Duties
- Safely transport patients to and from: Admissions, transfers, and approved off-site activities
- Ensure compliance with all safety, confidentiality, and supervision protocols
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor with patients at all times
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance concerns
- Follow all organizational driving policies and procedures
- Complete required transport documentation accurately and timely
Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Duties (When Not Driving)
- Provide direct support and supervision to residents
Assist with:
Patient check-ins and transitions
Signs of Life and safety checks
Room and environmental safety checks
- Support nursing staff
- Assist with intake processes, including property handling and safety procedures
- Encourage and support resident participation in programming and groups
- Assist with meals, unit organization, and maintaining a safe, clean environment
- Document observations and interactions in the EMR
- Respond appropriately to behavioral concerns using trauma-informed techniques
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow all policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass motor vehicle record (MVR) check
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in:
Healthcare
Behavioral health
Substance use treatment
Residential or inpatient settings (strongly preferred)
- Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional in high-stress situations
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- CPR/Narcan/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Behavioral Health Technician experience
- Experience transporting patients in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended driving periods
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the unit
- Ability to assist patients as needed in compliance with safety standards
