About the Role
This is a principal-level solution architecture role for a Java modernization expert who has led complex legacy system migrations, architected modern Spring Boot-based application platforms, and designed enterprise-grade identity management solutions. You will serve as the technical authority on a high-priority client engagement — translating complex business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, production-grade architectures. This role is needed immediately — we are sourcing qualified candidates now.
Must-Have Skills
- 8 years of solution architecture or senior engineering experience
- Expert-level Java / Spring Boot — microservices architecture, REST APIs, and enterprise application development
- Proven experience leading application modernization initiatives — migrating legacy systems to modern, cloud-native Java platforms
- Strong legacy system migration expertise — assessment, re-platforming, re-architecture, and cutover planning
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing identity management solutions — SSO, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, LDAP, Active Directory, or IAM platforms (Okta, Ping Identity, ForgeRock, or similar)
- Strong cloud platform experience — Azure, AWS, or GCP — for modernized application deployment
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices — GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar
- Strong system design skills — scalability, reliability, security, and performance
- Excellent written and oral communication skills — able to present architecture decisions to technical and business stakeholders
- Ability to work on-site all 5 days in Omaha, NE
What You'll Do
- Own and lead end-to-end solution architecture for Java modernization and identity management initiatives across client engagements
- Assess existing legacy Java applications and systems — defining modernization roadmaps, re-platforming strategies, and migration sequencing plans
- Architect and oversee the development of modern Java / Spring Boot microservices platforms — designing for scalability, security, and cloud-native deployment
- Design and implement enterprise identity management solutions — SSO, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, MFA, and IAM platform integrations
- Lead technical design sessions, architecture reviews, and proof-of-concept development for modernization initiatives
- Define and enforce architecture standards, coding best practices, and security governance across client engagements
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to align solutions with business and technical objectives
- Build and maintain detailed architecture documentation — solution designs, technical specifications, migration runbooks, and decision records
- Identify and mitigate technical risks across modernization and identity management workstreams
- Mentor and guide senior engineers on Java modernization patterns, identity management best practices, and cloud-native architecture principles
