Duties
- Record and process journal entries using various accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems
- Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment scheduling
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Support payroll processing activities, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments
- Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and preparing financial statements for internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions, including debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation reports
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations while supporting audits as needed
Skills
- Proven experience with bookkeeping, accounting software (QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage), and financial systems
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, GAAP standards, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report generation
- Knowledge of payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, bank reconciliation, and journal entry preparation
- Familiarity with governmental accounting practices and non-profit or corporate accounting is a plus
- Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently for data entry tasks
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts accurately
- Effective communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating with team members
